In today's episode, you'll learn about the common reasons why you might experience delays getting your podcasts listed in Apple podcasts. For many podcasters the apple Podcast Directory is the lifeblood of their listenership. It's one of the largest podcast directories in the world and accounts for millions of downloads every month, so it's important that your podcast is available on their directory. With that said one of the biggest obstacles and headaches a new podcaster can experience when first trying to get the show off the ground are delays and getting listed in Apple podcasts. So in this video, I'll break down some of the most common causes of why you might be experiencing those delays and what you can do about it. Reason number one, your podcast might still be in the review process. It's important to keep in mind that before they're available on Apple podcast channels, shows and subscriptions are reviewed to ensure they comply with Apple's content guidelines. Expect an email when the status of your podcast is approved and available on the directory. And depending on the volume of new podcast submissions that are in the queue. Your podcast can be reviewed and approved as quick as a few hours, or sometimes takes up to two weeks Be patient and follow up as needed. Which brings us to common delay Issue number two. Your submission isn't a status that requires some attention. Apple podcast Connect is the quintessential online dashboard. When it comes to submitting your podcast to the Apple podcast platform. It's where you would submit your show for review. It also allows you to monitor your shows and gain insight into how users are listening to them and a whole lot more. It also allows you to monitor the status of your podcast submissions. There are several statuses and podcasts connect that will help you understand where your submission is in the process. For example, maybe your show isn't available on Apple podcasts just yet. Because it's an a draft status. This means that your show hasn't been published and you may still need to complete some required metadata fields before you can submit your show for review. When you see a published status, you know your podcast was finally approved. If you have at least one episode of a published status, your show will be available on Apple podcasts. Delay issue number three is that there may be an error in your submission. The most recurring mistakes that we see are inaccurate podcast metadata, such as titles, descriptions and language and the podcast or just doesn't meet Apple's requirements. Luckily, both of these can easily be resolved. Ensure that you're supplying the correct information for the required fields into submission form. Double check that you've supplied your name or the name of the company brand or network that owns the podcast. If your podcast contains explicit content, make sure that you label it as such. And don't forget to select a category for your podcast and when it comes to your shows artwork. Make sure that you're supplying the correct specifications for artwork size and dimensions. artwork must be between 14 103,000 pixels squared, JPG or PNG the full content guidelines and artwork requirements can easily be found on podcasters.apple.com/support. Now that you're aware of some of the more common reasons for delays, here are some helpful things to keep in mind. Once you get your show listed on Apple podcasts. Expect changes to take place within a business day at the least the supplies anytime that you take action of your podcast RSS feed. Whether that's changing an episode title, updating your podcast description, or changing the name of your podcast or artwork. Apple may take up to 24 hours to check your RSS feed for new episodes or changes but in most cases, new episodes should appear on Apple podcasts pretty quickly and oftentimes within an hour or two.
